I'd recommend doing a little experiment - put a couple in the freezer and then try them after a couple of weeks. Good luck!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194828903719000019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-84448828133899326312015-12-08T18:37:28.001-05:002015-12-08T18:37:28.001-05:00Very late to the party. I bet it would be like a cake donut, only with a stuffed date inside. It would probably be delicious. Even putting the glaze on top sounds good that way.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194828903719000019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1120060068788799912005-06-29T11:47:00.000-04:002005-06-29T11:47:00.000-04:00i wonder what would happen if you deep fried it a...i wonder what would happen if you deep fried it after dipping....santos.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15941170936050458728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1120041833317623882005-06-29T06:43:00.000-04:002005-06-29T06:43:00.000-04:00Hi Reid - true - tea or coffee would offset the sw...Hi Reid - true - tea or coffee would offset the sweetness nicely.Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194828903719000019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1120024694109512452005-06-29T01:58:00.000-04:002005-06-29T01:58:00.000-04:00Hi Cathy,Dates and walnuts sound nice. Perhaps something a little bitter...let me think about that.Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03757257669831271556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1119957526600753342005-06-28T07:18:00.000-04:002005-06-28T07:18:00.000-04:00Hi Chocopie! You ought to try a stuffed date before you go to the trouble of making these cookies... take a slender piece of walnut or pecan (a half of a half) and push it through the hole of a pitted date (or slit open the date and form the date around the nut). Then roll the date in granulated sugar. Yum - so simple, but really wonderful!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194828903719000019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1119931492047361072005-06-28T00:04:00.000-04:002005-06-28T00:04:00.000-04:00Personally, I don't like date itself. I'll try to make it.Chocopiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07301737993836645070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1119924736264035122005-06-27T22:12:00.000-04:002005-06-27T22:12:00.000-04:00Hi Alice - Thanks! The cookie itself isn't that interesting either - soft, sweet and vanilla-flavored. Long ago I made a like-named cookie from one of my Mom's cookbooks. I have the cookbook now and am tempted to try that version again. With those you drop some dough, place the stuffed date on top, and cover with more dough. Only thing is it calls for shortening, which I'm a little leary of these days.

Hi Nic - I hadn't thought about that before, but I think you're right. Eight of the cookies I've made so far have had a glaze or icing. I guess those little mysteries appeal in the kid in us!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11194828903719000019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1119921794778259062005-06-27T21:23:00.000-04:002005-06-27T21:23:00.000-04:00Maida loves glazes. Like those checkerboard shortbread cookies? Everyone always wonders how they're made.
I guess the exception would be if the suprise were something strange or gross.Nichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13456007322213045872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7157527.post-1119886411000061252005-06-27T11:33:00.000-04:002005-06-27T11:33:00.000-04:00These sound really, really good. Do you think you'd like them better if you had left the glaze off?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
