Crochet: Betcha don't have potholders like these!

OK, just one more potholder post - I promise! After finishing with yesterday's post I remembered some potholders my mom had. Then it occurred to me I probably had them somewhere. I dug around in all the likely places (NOT the kitchen) and found them! My mom had pinned a note to them indicating that they had been made by her Great Aunt Emma and given to my mom at her bridal shower. I wish I could say more so you'd have to scroll down to see the photo... because they really should be revealed with a big TA-DA...

Yup - they're his and hers and they've got openings at the top and legholes just like the garments they're modeled after. They're a little two-dimensional, but that's sort of a requirement for potholders. I don't think these potholders have ever done duty in the kitchen, though with those handy loops perhaps I should hang them on the fridge just as a conversation starter!

Conversation starters indeed! Despite my reluctance to start on a new hobby that I might not follow through on, these would most definitely make a statement on the big american fridge. Imagine the looks of my guests in a couple of weeks when they check out the huge side-by-side. "Hey Rowena, do they exhibit their underwear on the fridge in Hawaii??!!"

Har-har-har......

Hi Santos! Aren't they great? I only remember my Aunt Emma as an elderly woman who gave me M&M's when we visited (and had a gigantic collection of ceramic salt and pepper shakers)... but she must have had a wonderful sense of humor.

Hi Rowena! I just knew you'd get a kick out of these :)

Hi Zarah! Perhaps not what you were envisioning for the countdown to Christmas, but yes, fun nonetheless!

Ha! I love these. I'd love to have them out when my mother in law comes over to shock her! ;-)

Yay! Some fiber content too! Actually, potholders are an excellent gift idea, though I would never be able to come up with something as clever as these!

Hi Cakespy! I toyed with the idea of hanging them up here just to see what reaction I'd get, but then chickened out - I'd probably splash something on them!

Hi Leigh! Yes, I'm in the mood for more fiber less food :) Unfortunately, I'm not getting much done with either these days! I've got one Christmas knitting project going and one sewing project on hold. Next weekend I'll be back to baking cookies - Christmas cookies!

Those are adorable!!!! Do you have a pattern for them or know whereI can find one??? I am fairly new to crochet, so I can't look at something and know how to do it. LOL!! my e-mail is mammasnakeyes@yahoo.com
