Crafts & Stuff: Miss Monkey hits the road

Well, dressing a monkey is harder than I thought. But I'm happy - Miss Monkey is going home with Cassidy tomorrow and my taxes are done. Yippee!

The ballerina outfit is perfect for miss monkey and makes her look quite striking! :)

Hi Santos! Thanks - I think it's cotton velvet - it was in amongst my stuff, but for the life of me I can't remember where it came from. It was a bear to sew, and having to fit that little bodysuit around a tail didn't help!

Hi Alice! Thanks so much! I'm so pleased she's done - now I just hope she holds up to the inevitable wear and tear that comes from playing with a two year old!

Yay!! A sock monkey!!! Cathy I only just noticed that you have a craft and things header in your sidebar and am only too pleased to see it. I've been checking out crafting blogs lately too and just gotten into making little colorful purses out of a book by Kumiko Sudo. It's really a great creative outlet. Hope to see more craft projects every now and then!

Hi Rosa - thank you!!

Hi Rowena! Yeah, I switched over to my Bloglines blogroll, because it better represents what I'm currently reading and is easier to maintain. I used to spend much more time on sewing and needlework and find myself leaning back in that direction again. I'm thinking my blog will start leaning that way too!

I'd love to see the purses you're making! I've not seen any of the Japanese craft books myself, but they seem to be all the rage on the craft blogs. I just took a look at Kumiko Sudo's books on Amazon - is "Kokoro no Te - Handmade Treasures from the Heart" the one you have?

That has to be the sweetest monkey I've ever seen. I love it! Did you find your pattern for the sock monkey online? I had one of these as a child and would like to make some for gifts.
Also, thanks for putting me on your blog! I am so flattered!

Hi Kelli - thanks! The instructions come with the socks. They also have instructions for an elephant that looks cute. I'm not sure where my brother and sister-in-law found the socks, but the link in the post is one source and I saw several others on-line.

Cassidy loves her monkey. The socks came from monkeygoods.com. Thanks again, Cathy!
